What is EV Charging?
EV charging refers to the process of replenishing the battery of an electric vehicle (EV) using a power source. While public charging stations are available in many locations, home EV charging stations are the most convenient option for most EV owners. An EV charger is a device installed at your home, typically on an exterior wall or inside a garage, that connects to your vehicle via a charging cable.
Home charging is significantly faster than using a standard 3-pin plug socket. Most EV home chargers are rated between 7kW and 22kW, which means they can charge an EV up to three times faster than a regular domestic outlet. With a dedicated home charging point, you can leave your car to charge overnight or whenever it’s convenient, ensuring it’s ready to go when you are.
Typical installation of an EV charger takes around 2-4 hours
